My sunset flower
Only blooms at night
She faces the falling sun,
Arms wide open
Embracing the twilight
Who like wise embraces her
Within his orange glow
I’ve seen her petals from the soft smile that I love,
I’ve watched her eyes open slowly and burn with passion
That I have never seen before in anything else
I’ve seen her glow and thrive in her world of nightfall,
Linking herself to her nighttime lover
Nothing more important can compare to the blossoming beauty
That I watch night after night, and Oh
How I’ve longed to pick that flower and place her in my room
In her own little vase
Far away from everyone and everything
Far away from the twilight that holds her captive
So I can keep her to myself, but I could never bring myself
To snap that elegant stem
I could never make myself pluck her away from her evening love
Although, her beauty only makes itself known for a short while
To the falling sun and no one else
Even though I want to make that beauty my own,
Such a stunning blossom as her
Could never love someone like me,
I should continue to stare and watch her splendor flourish
Forever pretending that I am the sun, the twilight,
The nightfall, that she was grown to love.
