Letter from the Editor – Spring 2014

Aglaun Literary Journal at Iḷisaġvik College
Letter from the Editor

Our spring 2014 edition marks Aglaun’s second year of publication. This year we are excited to present a selection of fine personal narratives, creative works, and beautiful photography and illustrations. This edition celebrates the diversity in Barrow, as well as the beautiful wintry scenes that grace the landscape. Inside the journal you’ll find meditations on life, adaptability, and the pursuit of knowledge; you’ll also find exploratory writing on mythology, folktales, and fantastic fictional worlds to dwell within. The art for our spring 2014 edition showcases the beauty in Barrow and the integrity of its traditions.

The editorial team invites you to take some time to enjoy our second Aglaun edition. Editors Myrna Sarren and Mirri Glasson-Darling were instrumental in the creation of this year’s journal. Reading, selecting, editing, and designing the journal is all part of their repertoire, and they did an amazing job. I would like to thank them, as well as Iḷisaġvik College (especially the Instruction Department) for supporting Aglaun once again, and for fostering an appreciation of the arts in Barrow for students and community members alike. Barrow is alight with talented writers, artists, and creators, and Aglaun hopes to highlight some of their work.

Warm Regards,
